Wide-body golden thread leech
The body is slightly fusiform, generally 60-130mm long and 13-20mm wide.
The back is dark green with 5 longitudinal black interspersed light yellow markings.
This yellow part is composed of round spots on the middle 3 rings of each body segment.
The midline is darker. There are 9 intermittent blacks on both sides of the ventral surface and the middle.
Golden thread leech
The body is divided into 107 rings, 4 rings can be seen on the back of section VII, and only 3 rings on the ventral surface.
There are 5 rings in each full body segment in the middle of the body.
There are 5 pairs of eyes, arranged like a medical leech.
The front sucker is small, with a jaw in the mouth, and two rows of blunt tooth plates on the jaw.
The male and female genital holes are located on the b5/b6 ring grooves of nodes XI and XII respectively.
The two holes are separated by 5 rings.
The ejaculum is slender and the seminal vesicles are underdeveloped, often attached under the former.
The penile sac is quite thick.
Lives in rice fields, ditches, shallow water polluted ponds, etc.
It is not addicted to sucking human and animal blood, and acts very
Agile, can swim in waves, and can also move in inchworms.
Every spring is warm, the leech jumps, and its spawning period is from June to October.
In winter, it tends to lie dormant in the wet mud near the shore,
without eating, and having a strong viability.
Living in paddy fields, rivers, and ingesting food will affect its growth when it exceeds 35°C; it is 15-30°C.
In the lake. Stop when the water temperature is lower than 10℃, and the suitable growth water temperature is 10～35℃. 
Leech is a cold-blooded mollusc that can grow and reproduce in both the north and south of China.
It mainly lives in freshwater reservoirs, ditches, paddy fields, lakes and marshes,
and most of them are in ponds with rich organic matter or small rivers without pollution.
The optimum temperature for growth is 10-40℃. When the temperature is lower than 3℃ in the northern region,
it enters the dormant hibernation period in the soil, and it stings activity above 8℃ from March to April of the following year.
Leeches are omnivorous animals. They feed on animal blood or body fluids as their main lifestyle.
They often feed on plankton, insects, and mollusks in water.
Under artificial conditions, they use various animal offal, cooked egg yolks, compound feed, and plant residues.
Freshwater snails, shellfish, miscellaneous fishes, earthworms, etc. are used as bait.
It is widely distributed in China country, found in Jilin,
Liaoning, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Gansu, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Shandong,
Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei, Guizhou;
it is only found in Japan abroad.
